Prior to 1984 there had never been a ten year period in the US (stretching back to the beginning of the 20th century) in which investment in educational structures exceeded investment in religious structures. Over every rolling ten year period after 1983 educational fixed structure investment has exceeded religious investment and substantially so. Over the past 10 years educational investment spend has averaged $15.5 billion, almost double religious fixed investment at $8.7 billion.
